Executive Committee Application

WORD is guided by its Executive Committee with approval of its Board of Directors. The Board is made up of the Executive Committee, the presidents of all local councils, and the chairs of WORD's standing committees.

Kristin Courtney has been an elementary teacher in primary grades and most recently is starting her PhD in Curriculum & Instruction: language, literacy and culture at the University of Washington  She graduated from University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, has a Masters  in Teaching from Washington State University and is Nationally Board Certified in Middle Childhood.  She looks forward to a great 2011-2012 in Washington Organization for Reading Development!

Dawn Christiana has been an elementary teacher 2nd- 5th grade and most recently a Title I Literacy Specialist and Literacy Facilitator.  She graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a dual Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, has a Masters of Literacy from Western Washington University and is Nationally Board Certified in Literacy.  Her mottos are "teach with intention" and "share, share alike."

Christine Colestock teaches in a homeschool — school partnership program for Deer Park Schools.  Before completing a MIT degree at Gonzaga University, Christine was a college administrator working in the areas of service-learning and advising student leaders.  She holds a MS in Recreation Administration from Western Illinois University  and a BA in Political Science from Boise State University.

Lisa Toedtli is a junior Elementary Education major at Central Washington University. She is specializing in literacy and Teaching English as a Second Language. She is looking forward to dedicating her life to teaching and helping students find the joy in reading!

Joan Cohee has been an elementary  classroom teacher, reading specialist and district curriculum literacy specialist.  She graduated from Simmons College, Boston MA with a BS in business and earned a M Ed in Curriculum and Assessment and administrative credentials from the University of Washington.  Now retired, she hikes, travels, gardens, works with fiber arts, and truly has time to read, read, read!
