Local councils may request seed money to assist with in starting
with a new council, special project or conference.
- Fill out Seed
Money Application Form.
- The application must be submitted 20 days prior to a
Board of Directors meeting in order for the Finance
Committee to meet and review the request.
- Seed money should be requested before your project takes
place.
- The maximum amount of seed money which can be granted to
a particular council per year is $300.00.
- The project must be directly related to the promotion of
literacy.
- After accepting the fund, WORD will expect the project
to be implemented according to the submitted proposal or the
council will be asked to return the seed money.
- A check will be mailed to the sponsoring council after
the WORD Board of Directors has approved a proposal
recommendation from the Finance Committee.

What can you use seed money for?

Seed money can be requested to aid costs for honorariums,
presenters, transportation, accommodations, printed materials,
publicity, and rent for your special conference or project.
Seed money cannot be used for refreshments or for gifts
for presenters.
